Creature Features, your one-stop shop for monstrous movie and TV memorabilia, salutes the icons of Warren Publishing, best known for FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, CREEPY and EERIE, with this spook-tacular garage kit of the company’s most popular femme fatale: “VAMPIRELLA.”
This curvaceous classic from the golden age of resin kits was sculpted in the early 1990s by David Grasso, renowned make-up FX artist whose credits include JURASSIC PARK, TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY, BATMAN RETURNS, RESIDENT EVIL and most recently, Guillermo del Toro’s THE SHAPE OF WATER.
Grasso was one of a talented band of FX artists from Stan Winston Studios, who culled their resources together to form a garage kit company called The Creature Studio.  The other members included: Miles Teves, Paul Mejias, Bill Basso and Jose Fernandez — all who contributed their skills to the blockbuster films produced during the late Winston’s Oscar heyday throughout the late 80’s and 90s.  The kits offered by these artists received very spotty local distribution in Los Angeles thru stores like Kit Kraft in Studio City and Creature Features in Burbank.
This imposing kit measures roughly 13″ and weighs in at over 5 pounds. The design and pose are clearly based on the popular oversized Vampirella door poster sold thru Captain Company in the pages of the various Warren magazines.  Credited artist could either Jose “Pepe” Gonzales or Sanjulian, though Grasso has often credit the latter as his source of inspiration.
The box pictured is not included in this listing to keep shipping costs down, as this is a very large and heavy kit, but it’s available FREE with local pickup or for an additional shipping charge.
This rare resin kit comes assembled and meticulously hand-painted by Jim Bertges, pro kitbuilder and veteran columnist for Amazing Figure Modeler, Kitbuilders, and Modeler’s Resource.
Local pickup is available in the Burbank area.
